Finedon Volta Mascots
Mascot Athletics
In 2004 Finedon Volta became centre to an influx of news coverage due to two lonely characters. These two characters were a stray chicken reared as an athlete from his tiny egg state, and a runaway Gorilla who escaped from London Zoo and found refuge behind the bar at Finedon Volta.
Both proved to be exceptional athletes however with league rulings the pair were unable to compete for Finedon Volta football club as players so found themselves posing as mere mascots. With the urge to perform so uncontainable they found an outlet for their talents through mascot racing at various racecourses. Surprisingly they became extremely successful. Competing in The Mascot Grand National, Mascot Derby, and Mascot Challenge. The fame became uncontrollable and they left Finedon to fulfill their celebrity dreams. Their whereabouts remains a mystery to this day.
